Military transport: Morocco launches the upgrade of its C-130H with L3Harris

The arrival of the first C-130H aircraft at Waco airport in the United States marks the beginning of the modernization of the aircraft of the Royal Air Force (FAR). This upgrade aims to strengthen the capabilities of the military air transport system, for operations carried out in Morocco as well as abroad, whether military, logistical or humanitarian, as reported by the FAR-Maroc forum on Facebook. The work includes a complete modernization of the avionics, engine overhaul, program maintenance, as well as other support elements. In charge, the American company L3Harris Technologies, specialized in aeronautics and defense. It is responsible for carrying out the work in accordance with the international standards in force in the aeronautical industry.

On July 2nd last, Morocco had signed an agreement with the American L3Harris Technologies for the modernization of the C-130 aircraft. Why modernize these aircraft? "This choice is part of an overall strategic planning logic, where priorities are defined based on the capabilities already under development, the available resources, but also the need to maintain an operational and reliable air transport capability," explained an administrator of the FAR-Maroc forum to Le360. The modernization operations will be spread over several years, with a gradual delivery until 2029.

The C-130 is a four-engine turboprop military transport aircraft. It was designed by the American manufacturer Lockheed Martin in the 1950s. This aircraft is robust and versatile. It is used for a wide variety of missions such as troop and equipment transport, air drops, refueling, humanitarian missions, medical evacuations, and firefighting.
