US Military Prepares for 'African Lion 2020' Exercise in Morocco

The US military is gearing up for the 2020 edition of the "African Lion" exercise. To this end, meetings for the planning of this event were held from August 5 to 9, 2019, in Agadir.

The "African Lion" 2020 exercise is being prepared. For this exercise, the US Army has representatives from the armies of Italy, Morocco, the Netherlands, Senegal, Spain, Tunisia and the United Kingdom alongside it, reports Medias24.

Considered one of the most important allied exercises in the world, "African Lion" 2020 pursues several objectives. These include validating the employment concepts of ground forces, strengthening the interoperability of the means and command systems used by Morocco and the United States, training the air component in the conduct of fighter and air-to-air refueling operations, and carrying out humanitarian activities.

The same source indicates that the special forces of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) were dressed in a new uniform during the exercise called Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force - Crisis Response - Africa 19.2 (SPMAGTF-CR-AF).

On July 25, in Tifnit, Moroccan soldiers trained alongside the US Navy. On this occasion, they also learned how to effectively conduct infantry tactics, according to the American specialized website "Defense Video Imagery Distribution System" (DVIDS).

The SPMAGTF-CR-AF aims to conduct security crisis response operations in Africa and promote regional stability by conducting training exercises between military personnel across Europe and Africa.
