Meta Reveals Top Emojis Used by Moroccans: Sadness and Support Dominate

The American giant Meta has revealed some information about how Moroccans use emojis on the two platforms Facebook and Instagram. Sadness, support, love are clearly the most popular, to the detriment of joy and laughter.
Among the main information to remember, the platform specifies that the most popular emojis used by Moroccans are:
• A yellow face with tears welling up in its two big eyes. This little face is used to express a range of emotions, including sadness, anger, embarrassment, admiration and gratitude.
• Two hands forming a heart. This cute emoji is often used to express love and support.
• A yellow smiley melting into a puddle of water. The eyes and mouth melt on the face, while still keeping a deformed smile. This detail gives this emoji a sarcastic character.
• A yellow face with the hands covering the eyes and the eyebrows raised. One eye is visible through the fingers. May be used to express the duality between wanting to avert one’s gaze from something because it is frightening, disgusting or embarrassing, and not being able to do so.
• A yellow face with the right hand waving. Used as a sign of respect.
Furthermore, the most popular sports emoji on Instagram biographies in Morocco is the soccer ball emoji, followed by other emojis such as the basketball, boxing glove, weight training or martial arts outfit emoji. Food and drink emojis are also popular in Facebook and Instagram posts and comments in Morocco, the same source points out.
