Melilla’s PP Doubts Government Promise on Morocco Border Customs Reopening

The Popular Party (PP) is skeptical about the announcement made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, regarding the reopening in January 2023 of the commercial customs of Melilla with Morocco and the creation of a new customs office in Ceuta.
"Not only does the PP not trust the government, but neither do the majority of the inhabitants of Melilla," said Daniel Conesa, the second vice-president of the Melilla Assembly and PP deputy, adding that he does not believe in the announcement of the reopening in January next year of the commercial customs of Melilla, unilaterally closed by Morocco since August 1, 2018, and the creation of a new customs office in Ceuta.
The PP leader is waiting to see this announcement materialize before acknowledging it. "We’ll see if in January this commercial customs will reopen," he said.
