Massive Drug Bust in Morocco: 4.6 Tons of Cannabis Seized Near Nador

The judicial police brigade of Nador seized 4 tons and 603 kilograms of cannabis resin, Saturday morning, thus foiling an attempt at international drug trafficking. This was during an operation meticulously carried out on the basis of information provided by the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
The actual operation was carried out at the level of El Kabdani, 70 km from Nador, and led to the arrest of a 37-year-old individual, who would, according to the first information, be linked to a criminal network.
In addition to the suspect, the police also seized, during the searches, three utility vehicles, one of which was registered in Europe with 4,603 kg of cannabis resin on board, corresponding to the quantity seized, specifies the DGSN, which adds that the two other cars contained mechanical parts of pneumatic boat engines and 121 containers containing 3,630 liters of fuel intended to transport the drugs by sea.
During the operation, the security services arrested five individuals spotted in a car, closely following the first three vehicles, while filming the operation with a camera. They were taken into custody, pending the determination of their links or not in this criminal network.
The competent public prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation in order to identify all the people involved in this international drug trafficking network, to define the degree of involvement of the 6 arrested individuals and to determine the possible ramifications of this network in Morocco and abroad.
