Massive Drug Bust in Morocco: 8 Tons of Cannabis Seized, 5 Arrested in Tangier

Five people were arrested on Friday in Tangier due to their alleged links to an international drug and psychotropic trafficking network, according to a press release from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
The security operation carried out under the supervision of the Judicial Police made it possible to make a large seizure on a farm in Gueznaya, Tangier. The same press release reports that the search made it possible to confiscate 288 large cannabis resin slabs totaling nearly eight tons.
According to the same source, three inflatable boats and maritime navigation equipment, torches, a compass and 20 fuel barrels, as well as two wireless communication devices, were also seized.
Vehicles, equipment used in international drug trafficking, a semi-trailer, eight large trailers containing cavities arranged for the trafficking of large quantities of drugs, a steel structure of a trailer, four cars, falsified license plates, a large batch of knives of different sizes, a flashlight, a camera, a balaclava and a sum of money in dirhams are also part of the loot seized by the elements of the Judicial Police, who also got their hands on the farm and the home of one of the suspects, continues the same press release.
Arrested, the defendants were placed in custody at the disposal of the judicial investigation in order to arrest all the people involved in this criminal network, to reveal their alleged links at the national and international levels, to determine the land and sea routes used in the traffic and to identify their alleged links with money laundering crimes, informs the same press release.
