Massive Cannabis Bust: Over 3 Tons Seized at Morocco-Mauritania Border Crossing

More than three tons of cannabis resin were seized on Tuesday during a joint operation carried out by the national security and customs services at the El Guergarat border post south of the city of Dakhla.
In a statement, the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) emphasizes that this was an attempt at international trafficking of three tons and 215 kilograms of chira. The seized drugs were hidden in packaging reserved for agricultural products, and stored in a trailer attached to a Morocco-registered international transport truck.
The driver of the truck is a 34-year-old Moroccan, who was arrested and made available for the judicial investigation opened to determine if this seizure is linked to international drug and psychotropic trafficking networks.
