Massive Cannabis Bust in Agadir: Police Seize 2,230 Tons, Arrest Three

Very early this Saturday, the prefectural service of the judicial police of Agadir thwarted an international drug trafficking operation. A total of 2,230 tons of cannabis resin were seized.
According to a statement from the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), the operation which was supposed to take place in a residential neighborhood, was foiled by the police elements who managed to intercept a truck loaded with drugs, hidden in 12 packages.
During this operation, three suspects, all in their fifties, aged 50 and 57, were apprehended. Several searches also made it possible to seize a car, another truck and 14 mobile phones, details the press release.
Immediately after their arrest, the accused were taken into custody, at the disposal of the investigation conducted under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, in order to determine the national and international ramifications, the same source points out.
It adds that likewise, persons with possible links to these criminal networks, as well as all individuals involved in drug trafficking through these heavy goods vehicles, will be arrested and punished in accordance with the law.
