Massive 24,000-Container Ship to Dock in Morocco, Highlighting Global Trade Growth

Built by the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding group, China’s number one shipbuilder, on behalf of MSC, the ship MSC CELESTINO MARESCA will soon call at Morocco.
The second of its kind and the fifth 24,000 TEU vessel to be delivered in the last nine months, the MSC CELESTINO MARESCA measures 399.99 meters in length and has a total width of 61.5 meters, equivalent to the size of four standard football fields. The ship can carry more than 240,000 tons of cargo and load 24,116 TEUs. "Its high-efficiency propellers and energy-saving devices allow fuel consumption and emissions to be reduced by about 3 to 4%," it is specified.
The construction of the new ship - one of the 14 ships of this type that MSC is building - required the use of advanced automated systems, such as a complete bridge, and state-of-the-art fire extinguishing technology. The carrier will operate nearly half of the 89 large liner container ships that will be added to the fleet of the world’s top 11 shipping companies in 2023, according to Alphaliner.
MSC CELESTINO MARESCA will enter service on March 30. It will sail from China to Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, the United Kingdom and Morocco before returning to Singapore and China.
