Marrakech Solo Travel Warning: What Women Need to Know
A Spanish tourist advises women against visiting Marrakech solo. Through her testimony, she points out the persistence of vendors and a sense of insecurity, alerting to the realities of an unaccompanied stay.
The experience was supposed to be idyllic, but it turned into a warning. Back from her stay in Morocco, Clara Retamero spoke out on the TikTok application to alert future travelers. According to the young woman, wandering without a companion through the streets of the ochre city exposes you to constant solicitation.

Residents systematically seek the slightest excuse to strike up a conversation and sell merchandise. Although she does not judge the country fundamentally dangerous, the Spanish woman affirms that locals are simply not used to seeing foreign women exploring the region on their own.
This observation is moreover shared by other vacationers met on site, like an American and a Moldovan woman who claims to have been followed. Beyond these oppressive requests, Clara Retamero deplores the difficulty of making friends there compared to Thailand, while being repelled by poverty and poor sanitation. If she does not forbid anyone from realizing their dream of escape, she calls for the utmost caution, confessing that she herself attracted all eyes by wearing inappropriate clothing.
