Marrakech Residents Outraged as Trees Illegally Removed Amid Rising Temperatures

In this summer period marked by temperature increases, individuals have uprooted certain trees in broad daylight on Boulevard Allal El Fassi in Marrakech, provoking the indignation of the residents.
The act took place at six o’clock in the morning, informs the Regional Observatory for the Fight against Corruption and the Protection of Public Money in Marrakech. In a statement, the institute condemned these practices that "harm the environment", recalling the role "that trees play in cooling the dry climate of Marrakech".
Uprooting trees in the early morning is proof of "the bad intention of the perpetrators," insists the Observatory, which adds that this act is "contrary to human principles and values and to the right to a clean environment for all citizens." While condemning the act, the Observatory calls on the competent authorities to open an investigation into this matter and to sanction the perpetrators of this act.
