The Marrakech region hit by a new earthquake

Morocco has experienced a new seismic shock. According to a report from the National Institute of Geophysics, an aftershock of magnitude 4.3 was felt in the Marrakech region at 7:05 a.m. The epicenter of the shock was located in the commune of Agbar.
Nacer Jabour, director of the Institute, said that this shock was a logical consequence of the earthquake that hit the region last September, indicating that this phenomenon was "normal and expected". The depth of the shock, 5 kilometers, is also within the norm.
The shock was felt in the cities of Chichaoua and Marrakech. The official recalled that the aftershocks of an earthquake can last for several months, calling on the population to remain calm and follow the safety instructions.
The earthquake that had hit the region on September 8 had been particularly violent, causing significant material damage and leaving 2,946 dead and 5,674 injured. The Moroccan authorities have set up an aid plan for the affected populations, and the reconstruction efforts are still ongoing, even if they are not as fast as the victims hope.
