Marrakech: Morocco’s Timeless Gem Captivates Global Tourists

In a special edition entirely devoted to Marrakech, the German magazine "Merian" does not skimp on words to highlight the charm of this city whose tourist attractions attract hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world each year.
"Merian" is a travel magazine whose audience is no longer to be presented. It has nearly 800,000 readers across the German-speaking world, notes Les Eco who has read through the special issue devoted to the ochre city.
According to the German magazine, Marrakech is a city that no visitor to the kingdom can escape. And for good reason! In Marrakech, it writes, "Time does not stop: the day invites visitors to discover the traditional markets and the alleys of the medina, and at night, Jamaâ El Fna Square becomes a lively popular festival and a gigantic open-air restaurant".
This description of the ochre city provides information on the atmosphere that prevails there, day and night, and which leads many of its visitors to say that "Marrakech never sleeps". The German magazine delivers one by one its discoveries, affirming in passing that "The heart of Morocco beats in the center of Marrakech, on Jamaâ El Fna square, surrounded by centuries-old houses, where the sun sends its warm rays to the red walls".
A true symbol of the city, Jamaâ El Fna square is a must-see place that the late Spanish writer Juan Goytisolo successfully fought to have classified as "Oral Heritage of Humanity". But also, this special issue of "Merian" rich in exclusive images, reports and interviews places particular emphasis on the ecological aspect. Specifying in particular in its introductory article signed by the writer, poet and journalist Yassin Adnan, that Marrakech is "a very green city with thirty parks of different generations".
The magazine attributes the success of Marrakech to King Mohammed VI who "calls for a tolerant Islam and opposes extremist currents", indicating that the city will shine again next year, as it has been chosen as the "African cultural city for the year 2020".
