Marrakech Land Scandal: Officials and Developers Under Investigation for State Property Fraud

A land scandal is once again affecting the city of Marrakech. The National Brigade of the Judicial Police (BNPJ) is investigating this controversial case involving elected officials, senior civil servants and real estate developers placed under judicial supervision and banned from leaving the territory.
This is a vast case of land spoliation concerning land belonging to the State, part of the private domain of the latter or the Ministry of Habous, reveals the daily Assabah, specifying that the accused, aided by their high-ranking accomplices, acquired these lands at a modest price.
The accused took advantage of certain complicity to acquire public domains under the pretext of implementing investment projects. "They even went so far as to create fictitious companies for this purpose," notes the daily, which claims that the former director of the Urban Agency of Marrakech, Khalid Ouaya, imprisoned for acts of corruption, was also heard as part of this investigation conducted by the BNPJ elements.
