Marrakech’s Iconic Jemaa el-Fna Square to Ban Vehicles After 1 PM

A brake for vehicles on the famous Jemaa el-Fna square in Marrakech. Thus, cars, trucks and two-wheelers will no longer have the right to circulate after 1 pm. Only police and emergency vehicles will be able to circulate there.
The Wilaya of Marrakech has made this decision to secure the square and allow pedestrians to stroll in peace. "Enough is enough" seem to say the authorities who have decided to crack down after yet another accident involving a car. The objective is to make the square a safer space for tourists, many of whom flock every day to enjoy the unique animation of Jemaa el-Fna.
Security measures will be put in place at the entrances to the square to enforce this new regulation. This change is part of a larger project to renovate the square. A real "facelift" is planned to modernize the site while preserving the soul of this Moroccan heritage site.
On the program: new signage, address plates and numbering to facilitate the orientation of visitors in the alleys of the medina.
