Marrakech’s Iconic Jemaa El Fna Square Gets 119 Million Dirham Makeover and High-Tech Security Upgrade

The Al Omrane Marrakech-Safi group, the delegated project owner acting on behalf of the urban commune of Marrakech, is actively working on the rehabilitation of the famous Jemaa El Fna square, a global cultural symbol and an integral part of the human heritage listed by UNESCO, and the souks that surround it.
After entrusting the redevelopment work of Jemaâ El Fna and its traffic routes to the Aqef company for a value of 114.7 million dirhams, the Al Omrane Marrakech-Safi group, the delegated project owner acting on behalf of the urban commune of Marrakech, has just awarded the work of setting up the access control system for the famous square to the Clutch company. The cost of the contract amounts to 4.2 million dirhams.
The system consists of the installation of retractable bollards that will be deployed from the main access points, according to Médias24. These are the Prince Moulay Rachid passage, Bani Marine Street, Moulay Ismail Street, Jemaa El Fna Avenue, and Koutoubia Street. These installations are of paramount importance: they will help better control access to these areas. This will contribute to better traffic management and security in the vicinity of the square.
The work should last four months.
