Marrakech Health Officials Deny COVID Patient Deaths from Oxygen Shortage

The Regional Directorate of Health (DRS) of Marrakech-Safi has issued a formal denial regarding the death of five Covid-19 patients due to lack of oxygen at the Ibn Zohr hospital.
"The Regional Directorate of Health of Marrakech-Safi categorically denies the information relayed by these electronic media and strongly condemns this act which denotes a lack of professionalism," the Marrakech-Safi DRS said in a statement. It also denounced this process of disseminating false information which "goes against journalistic ethics and sows panic and confusion among citizens, particularly in this exceptional health situation that the country is going through."
According to the explanations of the directorate, the Ibn Zohr hospital is equipped with an oxygen generator with a capacity of 200 liters per minute, an oxygen tank with a capacity of 4,200 m³ and about thirty oxygen cylinders, in order to avoid any interruption in the supply of this vital substance. An additional oxygen generator will soon be installed in this hospital, it is announced.
