Marrakech Health Crisis: Report Reveals Critical Shortages Amid COVID-19 Surge

The Minister of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, received a worrying report on the health situation in Marrakech. It is the result of the work carried out by an investigation commission set up by the Head of Government, Saâdeddine El Otmani in the wake of the surge in Covid-19 contamination cases in the ochre city.
The members of the commission noted serious dysfunctions that explain the resurgence of contamination cases recorded in the ochre city, reports Al Massae. These include, among others, the shortage of oxygen at the Al Mamounia hospital, the lack of medicines, beds and ambulances in other hospitals, the lack of skills to care for patients with the coronavirus, the absence of doctors who should be on duty.
Another problem mentioned: the departure of some doctors after the appearance of Covid-19 in the kingdom. These dysfunctions are not all foreign to the Minister of Health. During a recent visit to Marrakech, Mr. Taleb noted the multiple failures of the medical system in the region.
