Marrakech fake tour guide arrested after slapping tourist over 1000 dirhams
A man suspected of illegally operating as a tour guide was arrested in Marrakech after a video went viral. He allegedly demanded 1,000 dirhams for a ten-minute tour before slapping one of the tourists.
The incident took place near the traditional tanneries of Marrakech. The suspect reportedly offered to accompany a group of tourists without clearly stating the price of the tour.

After about ten minutes, he allegedly asked them for 1,000 dirhams. The visitors offered him 100 dirhams, a sum he refused, sparking a dispute.
The video then shows the tourists quickly leaving the area after being warned by another person. The alleged fake guide reportedly pursued them before slapping one of them.

The recording, widely shared on social media, sparked numerous reactions due to the impact of such practices on Marrakech’s tourism image.
Police services launched technical investigations and field searches to identify the man appearing in the video. He was finally arrested on Monday, July 20.
