Marrakech Faces Waste Crisis as Garbage Collectors Threaten Strike Over Working Conditions

Dissatisfied with their working conditions, the garbage collectors of the city of Marrakech have threatened to stop sanitation activities, planning a series of actions.
According to Al Akhbar, which depicts a critical situation in the cleaning and household waste collection sub-sector in the ochre city, these workers are angry and want to make it known.
At the root of the problem are the deemed unworthy working conditions, the non-compliance with the specifications, and the dismissal without explanation of about 70 garbage collectors by a company operating in the city.
As a result, some workers, particularly those from the "Arma" company, have initiated a protest movement, ranging from wearing black armbands starting tomorrow, Monday, to a 48-hour renewable strike, as well as a sit-in on Tuesday in front of the headquarters of the Marrakech city council.
This new protest project follows the one from last month, which already denounced the same ills, the newspaper recalls.
