Marrakech Councilor Jailed for Alleged $240,000 Fraud Against Kuwaiti Investor

Accused of fraud against a Kuwaiti investor, a municipal councilor (FFD), from the Sidi Youssef ben Ali district in Marrakech, was arrested and then placed in pre-trial detention in the Oudaya prison.
The preliminary investigation revealed that the municipal councilor would have demanded a large sum of money from a Kuwaiti national in exchange for permits to invest in the city, reports Al Massae. Discovering that he was the victim of a scam, the latter filed a complaint with the public prosecutor’s office for extortion of a sum of 2.4 million dirhams. The investigators discovered that the municipal councilor and the foreign investor had a more intimate relationship and had a marriage project in mind. This is how the Kuwaiti national regularly transferred sums of money to be used for the acquisition of a house in Marrakech.
Accused of having defrauded the Kuwaiti investor, the councilor was arrested. The public prosecutor at the court of first instance in Marrakech ordered her to be placed in pre-trial detention in the Oudaya prison.
