Marrakech Café Shooting Trial Postponed to December 22, Defense Seeks Time

The trial of the defendants in the case of the shooting at the "La Crème" café in [Marrakech] has been postponed to December 22. This is the decision of the Court of Appeal of the Ochre City.
The court made this decision in order to give the defense lawyers enough time to communicate with their clients who are being prosecuted at liberty and to summon them as well as the detained defendants at the Oudaya prison so that they are present at the next hearing.
Last July, the Criminal Chamber of First Instance had sentenced the main accused in this shooting, which targeted the owner of the "La Crème" café, two Dutch nationals originally from the Dominican Republic and Suriname, to the death penalty. The café owner himself had been sentenced to 15 years in prison.
The shooting occurred on November 2, 2017 at the "La Crème" café in Marrakech. The toll was one dead and two injured. The main accused had mistakenly shot a young medical intern. The café owner was their target.
