Marrakech Authorities Crack Down on Illegal Shisha Cafes in City-Wide Sweep

In Marrakech, the local authorities are waging a relentless battle against the proliferation of shisha cafes. Many individuals have already been arrested.
The preventive security operations, which are part of the security strategy adopted by the local authorities and the security services of Marrakech to fight against the proliferation of shisha cafes, continue. Under the supervision of the chief commander of the administrative section of Massira, supported by the vice-president of the Menara security zone, the head of the 11th police district and his deputy, an operation was organized in this direction, targeting many cafes known to serve the "shisha" hookah to customers.
The operation was a great success. The judicial police officers, the authority agents and the auxiliary force elements proceeded to seize dozens of bottles prepared for this purpose, as well as various equipment related to the shisha, according to Kech24. The searches carried out by the local authorities, supported by the security services, resulted in the arrest of several suspects. After their arrest, they were placed in custody pending their appearance before the competent prosecutor’s office.
In Salé, parents of students had called at the end of January for the competent authorities to put an end to the establishment of shisha cafes near schools in the Marina Salé area, on the Boulevard de Lalla Meryem and the Boulevard de Lalla Amina in the Al Mazraa district of Tabriquet-Salé. This phenomenon is not without consequences for the students.
