Maroc Telecom Rebrands African Subsidiaries as Moov Africa, Unifying 70 Million Customers

New visual identity and name change for the Maroc Telecom group in Africa. All eleven subsidiaries become Moov Africa.
The Moroccan operator, present in several African countries, has "more than 70 million customers" on the continent and wants to bring its subsidiaries together around a single identity. "This new identity illustrates the Maroc Telecom group’s vision: ’Africa in motion’, which lies in the principle of sharing the group’s know-how and its capacity for innovation for the benefit of the countries in which it operates," says a Moov Africa press release.
Thanks to the acquisition of Tigo Chad, Maroc Telecom has achieved good revenues that represent more than 45% of Maroc Telecom’s consolidated half-year turnover between January and September 2020.
In November 2013, Vivendi had announced a definitive agreement with the Emirati Etisalat for the acquisition of its 53% stake in Maroc Telecom for 4.2 billion euros. The French group had, at the time, decided to gradually withdraw from the telecommunications sector (Maroc Telecom, SFR) to refocus on the media.
