US Marines and Moroccan Royal Navy Explore Expanded Military Partnership

The partnership between the US Marine Corps and the Moroccan Royal Navy is very positive. But new prospects are to be considered for more results.

Major General Michael E. Langley, Commanding General of the United States Marine Corps Forces in Europe and Africa, spoke by telephone about this with Admiral Mostafa El Alami, Inspector of the Moroccan Royal Navy. The two officials discussed several jointly successful missions in recent years between the US Marines and the Royal Navy, especially regarding the training of Moroccan special operations forces and within the framework of the humanitarian demining action program, in order to train Moroccan technicians and trainers specialized in demining.

The two parties also discussed new opportunities for US Marines and Royal Navy partnership, by amplifying the chances of joint training for the two parties and improving their interoperability.

Also, the US Marines and Royal Navy have undertaken to develop new opportunities for collaboration and to support regional stability, by strengthening the sense of professionalism and the capabilities of naval and amphibious forces in the region, not to mention that they have highlighted the importance of forums such as the Naval Infantry Leaders Symposium-Africa (NILS-A), which should take place during the year. This multinational symposium based in Africa aims to bring together partner countries, naval forces and Marines, to improve interoperability and crisis response capabilities and to strengthen relations in order to improve maritime security in Africa.
