Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva Faces Backlash Over Racially Insensitive Tweet About Teammate
Bernardo Silvo has drawn the wrath of internet users by making a racist joke about his teammate Benjamin Mendy.
Racist behaviors, although condemned by national and international football authorities, remain in the habits of certain individuals. Bernado Silvio learned this the hard way. He didn’t think he would get away with trying to have fun with his teammate Mendy.
The Manchester City forward made a joke on Twitter in which the Portuguese compared his teammate to an advertising character. Bernardo Silva found a photo of Benjamin Mendy when he was a child and compared it to the character of the Spanish chocolate brand "Conguitos".
The English Football Association could even intervene in this case to sanction the Manchester City winger.
In the meantime, this joke did not please many internet users who raised its racist nature.
As for Benjamin Mendy, he did not take his friend’s joke badly. "1-0 for you but you’ll see," he simply commented on Twitter.
