Man Swallows $40,000 Check During Dispute with Lawyer in Morocco

Accused of issuing a bounced check worth 400,000 dirhams, a man bit the hand of a lawyer for the victim and swallowed the check during a "reconciliation session" in her office.
The incident occurred last weekend in Tetouan. As the defendant was exchanging with the lawyer in her office, he suddenly pounced on her and bit her hand to retrieve the bounced check, which he then swallowed, reports Al Akhbar.
The defendant was "the subject of a lawsuit for issuing a 400,000 dirham bounced check," the same source recalls, adding that after his act, the man told the lawyer, who was screaming in pain, that he "did not have the amount written on the check" and that he "could not honor the debt recorded on it".
The defendant was arrested by the police and placed in custody for the purposes of the investigation opened by the competent prosecutor’s office. According to the newspaper, the case is now moot, as the evidence (the bounced check) no longer exists. For its part, the Tetouan bar association expressed its proximity to the lawyer.
