Mammogram Machine Breakdown at Moroccan Hospital Leaves Cancer Patients in Limbo

For eight months, the mammography machine at the CHU Ibn Rochd has been out of order, making any even urgent intervention impossible. Private centers remain the only alternative for patients who have to make a significant financial sacrifice to be taken care of.
The breakdown has created confusion within the oncology department of the CHU, which not only postpones indefinitely the patients whose condition requires urgent intervention, but also refuses to grant new appointments.
Faced with this situation, doctors are forced to refer patients to private centers in order to benefit from mammography services. But the high costs and the cost of transportation end up discouraging them.
The patients in the oncology department are mostly women aged 40 to 70, who come from distant regions and are forced to spend hours in the waiting rooms, even when their condition requires urgent intervention.
