Major Drug Bust in Tangier: 2.4 Tons of Cannabis Seized, Trafficking Network Dismantled

A drug trafficking and illegal immigration network to southern Spain has been dismantled in Tangier.
The operation, carried out by the Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation, in collaboration with the central services of the Directorate General of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), made it possible to seize 2.4 tons of cannabis resin on board a utility vehicle, in the Moghougha district of Tangier, six inflatable boats, three engines, six oars, three jerrycans and five air pumps, according to a statement from the BCIJ.
The same source specifies that the investigations and interventions made it possible to arrest the mastermind of this network and three other individuals in Tangier, suspected of being involved in this criminal network.
To succeed in their crime, the drug packages, intended for international trafficking by sea, were packaged and conditioned in a way to ensure their waterproofness, the statement notes.
As part of the investigation, eight individuals were taken into custody for their alleged links with the criminal network of illegal immigration.
