Major Drug Bust: 605 kg of Cannabis Seized at Casablanca Port

The elements of the national security and the administration of customs and indirect taxes, intercepted on Tuesday, at the port of Casablanca, a large quantity of cannabis resin on board international transport containers destined for a European port.
A joint security operation carried out by DGSN agents and the police’s cynological brigade at the port of Casablanca made it possible to thwart an attempt to traffic 605 kg of cannabis, the DGSN said in a statement. The seized drugs were packaged and hidden in six containers transporting plaster stone cargoes.
The manager of the company in charge of exporting the cargo, and an employee, were arrested during the investigations and inquiries conducted. This manager would be a repeat drug trafficker, the statement said.
The Judicial Police Brigade of the Port of Casablanca is continuing its investigations under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office, to determine the source and destination of the seized quantity of drugs. Similarly, all suspects involved in this criminal network will be identified, in order to establish the national and international ramifications.
