Magnitude 5.2 Earthquake Strikes Northern Morocco, Sparking Panic

The earth shook on Friday, May 20 in the early afternoon in the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region, where a seismic shock of magnitude 5.2 on the Richter scale was recorded. This earthquake triggered a panic among the population.
The epicenter of the earthquake occurred at 2:35 p.m., the Euro-Mediterranean Seismology Center (EMSC) specifies. The felt shock would be located at "a very shallow depth of 8 km" and 38 km off the city of Al Hoceima.
The magnitude, epicenter and exact depth of the earthquake could be revised in the next few hours or minutes as seismologists examine the data and refine their calculations, the same source explains.
This earthquake caused a panic movement among many residents of El Hoceima who went out into the street. But it was not alarming.
