Magnitude 4.7 Earthquake Strikes Al Hoceima Region in Morocco

A slight earthquake of a magnitude of 4.7 degrees on the Richter scale occurred this Saturday in the Al Hoceima region.
The epicenter of this tremor was located in Bni Bounsar in the province of Al Hoceima at exactly 5:35 AM (GMT+1), according to the National Seismic Monitoring and Alert Network of the National Institute of Geophysics (ING).
According to the same source, the felt shock had a depth of 34 km, a latitude of 34.892°N and a longitude of 4.435°W.
The last seismic shock that Morocco had experienced had hit the Driouch region last month. With a magnitude of 4.2 degrees on the Richter scale, it had been recorded precisely in the commune of Tazaghine.
The deadliest earthquake in the region had occurred on February 24, 2004. It had surprised the inhabitants of the city of Al Hoceima at 2:27 am, killing 572 people and injuring several hundred.
