Madonna’s Birthday Surprise: Rosalia’s Star Power Shocks Pop Icon in Marrakech

In an interview with "El Mundo", Madonna claims to love the artist Rosalia so much that she thought she was the only one who knew her, (more or less?) talented. She therefore offers her to come and sing at her birthday party on August 16 in Marrakech (2018). But... Madonna declares: "I discovered her more than a year ago and I did everything to get her to come to Morocco, on August 16, to sing for me. At that time, no one knew who she was, I thought I was the only person who knew her [outside of Spain] and I also thought: ’Oh, I’ve discovered someone no one knows’. I said to myself: ’I’m going to get her to come’. But it all became complicated." And for a complication, it certainly became one.

Madonna explains how naive she was: "When she and I started talking, it was a simple transaction and all she needed was her guitarist and some palmeros. They were going to share their rooms because we were in a very small hotel." Rosalia accepted the room sharing. But...

"Then a manager appeared, then an agent, then 5 people were involved and they wanted to bill an extraordinary amount, then 36 people and I said to myself: ’Wait, wait, what?’. So she didn’t come. I didn’t hear from her for a while and suddenly she became a big star and told me: ’Yes, I was right’," continues Madonna. Yes, she was right. She is a big star who deserves a big fee!

Moreover, it should be noted that Rosalia is an icon of flamenco with, in addition, her own style and an ability to blend genres. And she is part of the "Mawazine" lineup this year.

Finally, it should be known that Madonna also appreciates her. Still in "El Mundo", she declared: "I love her. It’s really amazing.
