Macron Begins State Visit to Morocco, Set to Meet King Mohammed VI

The French president will make a two-day state visit to Morocco starting Monday, October 28, 2024. Emmanuel Macron is expected at Rabat-Salé airport on Monday afternoon.
Upon disembarking, the French head of state will be welcomed by King Mohammed VI, accompanied by the Crown Prince, Moulay Hassan, and Prince Moulay Rachid, informed well-placed sources. Emmanuel Macron will be at the head of a large delegation composed of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Interior and Defense.
The French president will then have a one-on-one meeting with the Moroccan monarch. This exchange between the two heads of state will be followed by a ceremony to sign agreements in the fields of energy, water, education, security and defense.
On Tuesday, October 29, Emmanuel Macron will meet with the Moroccan Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, the President of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, and the President of the House of Advisors, Mohammed Ould Rachid. The occupant of the Élysée Palace is also expected to deliver a speech before the parliamentarians.
French media also announce the signing of historic military agreements between the two countries. They would notably concern the construction of a submarine for Morocco and the acquisition by the kingdom of French Caracal helicopters. The opening of a French consulate in Laâyoune is also mentioned.
