Low-Cost Supermarket Hmarket Opens Near Paris, Drawing Crowds Amid Inflation Concerns

The low-cost supermarket Hmarket opened its doors on Wednesday in Buchelay, near Mantes-la-Jolie (Yvelines). It is the tenth store of the chain in the Paris region. An opening that, as much as it delights consumers due to inflation, worries the local competing chains like Auchan.
Dozens of customers, estimated at 300 according to witnesses, rushed to the new store whose prices defy all competition. "I filled my cart for 60 euros with mainly meat. I would never have found the same prices elsewhere. And then, it’s halal," says Fatima, a resident of the Mantes region, to the newspaper Le Parisien.
