Lockheed Martin Begins Technical Support for Morocco’s F-16 Fleet

The F-16 aircraft of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) are receiving technical and technological support from the American company specializing in the manufacture of weapons, Lockheed Martin, under a contract that came into effect last month.
Lockheed Martin is starting to provide technical and technological support for the benefit of the Moroccan F-16 fighter squadron. This support is in line with the contract won by the American defense and security company in March. The company is expected to provide a full range of technical and engineering services to ensure the sustainability and improvement of the capabilities of the Moroccan F-16 aircraft. "This contract is valid until the end of February 2025 and includes services such as engineering, technical support, training management, support for the aircraft safety program, as well as mission preparation, durability, reliability and maintenance of the F-16 weapon system," said the U.S. Department of Defense.
This contract with Lockheed Martin will allow the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) to increase the capabilities of the F-16 fighters and ensure their availability for use at any time if necessary. Moreover, these maintenance and support contracts help to bring the fighters back to their initial state, as if it were a new squadron acquired.
In addition, Morocco has acquired the Viper Shield EW, a state-of-the-art armor, from the American company L3Harris Technologies, specialized in military surveillance equipment, directed energy weapons, electronic warfare, for its F-16 aircraft. The main feature of this state-of-the-art armor is electronic defense against possible digital jamming attacks, and EMP (Electromagnetic Pulse Attacks). This new system "allows the detection of radar threats and the provision of digital countermeasures, while the advanced digital radar receiver is integrated into the APG-83 radar, which has an active electronically scanned function".
