Life Sentence for the Killer of Limoux: The Fugitive Killer in Morocco Sentenced to the Maximum in Carcassonne!

The case, of rare violence, dates back to July 2022 in Limoux. The victim, a 78-year-old retiree, had been stabbed and then sawed apart before being hidden under a concrete slab. According to L’Indépendant, the great absentee from the trial, Hamza Farissi, was convicted by default to the maximum sentence. The two women who appeared alongside him were also heavily sanctioned, the court going beyond the prosecution’s requisitions. Valérie Tacquet, 55, was sentenced to 18 years in prison. She is designated as the instigator of the drama, having manipulated Farissi by describing her neighbor as a harasser. Laurence Dupuis, 42, was sentenced to 20 years in prison (as a repeat offender) for having helped the murderer clean up the crime scene and condition the victim’s body.

The defense tried to plead psychological influence and the absence of direct criminal intent, describing the accused women as "battered" or under the influence of Farissi’s criminality. These arguments did not convince the jurors in the face of the horror of the facts. The convicted persons now have ten days to appeal this decision, which closes, at first instance, one of the most sordid cases that the department of Aude has known in recent years.
