Libyan National Arrested at Casablanca Airport for International Drug Trafficking

A 33-year-old Libyan national was arrested on Friday, October 4, at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca. The reason is his direct involvement in an international drug trafficking operation in Guelmim, according to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN).
Under a national arrest warrant, the man was apprehended as he was about to flee on a flight to Tunis.
The defendant, who appears to be the main sponsor of this drug, was taken into custody and made available to the judicial investigation in order to elucidate the ins and outs of this case, as well as the possible ramifications of this criminal activity, both nationally and internationally, concludes the DGSN.
A few days earlier, the Judicial Police Brigade of Guelmim, in collaboration with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST), had dismantled a criminal network active in international drug trafficking.
The same source states that this operation resulted in the confiscation of more than eight tons of cannabis resin, of which 3.1 tons were seized on board a freight truck in Guelmim, while the rest of the cargo was seized during a search operation on a farm near the same city.
