Libercourt Crash: Rachid’s Family Shattered as He Was Expecting His 4th Child
Rachid, a 39-year-old Moroccan-born truck driver, was killed in a fatal head-on collision in Libercourt. Struck by a 15-year-old teenager while he was leaving for work, he leaves behind a devastated family.
On Tuesday night into Wednesday, at around 2:30 a.m., Rachid left his home in Libercourt to report for work at the Delanchy transport company in Liévin. Less than a kilometer after setting off, his car was hit head-on by an Audi A3 carrying four teenagers and traveling at high speed. The frontal collision proved fatal for the father of the family, in an accident described as “vehicular homicide” by the Béthune prosecutor’s office after an investigation was opened, according to Le Parisien.

The tragedy also claimed the lives of two passengers in the other vehicle, aged 15 and 16, while the 15-year-old driver and the front-seat passenger remain in critical condition. Rachid leaves behind his wife Alisson, their two 2-year-old twin daughters and a 13-year-old daughter. The couple were expecting a baby boy whose birth is due in just a few days, a child who will know his father only through the stories and love of those close to him.
Rachid was planning to travel to Morocco to introduce his children to the country
Described as a “very calm dad” and a dedicated worker, this bodybuilding and football enthusiast grew up in the mining region. Deeply attached to his roots, Rachid was planning a family trip to Morocco soon, to his parents’ home, so he could introduce his homeland to his family. His brother Moustafa, a futsal coach well known in Avion, received numerous messages of support from the local sporting community, which is mourning this loss.
At his company, emotions are running high over the loss of a colleague considered a “very good employee” and a discreet person. His unexplained absence when he was due to start his shift at 3 a.m. immediately alerted his supervisors, who unsuccessfully tried to contact him. On his street, outrage mingles with grief, as the town’s mayor, Daniel Maciejasz, paid tribute to the memory of a local resident with no history of trouble who “lived quietly with his family.”

Despite the brutality of the loss, Rachid’s family chose to respond with remarkable humanity, calling for compassion on social media rather than hatred. An online fundraiser has been launched to support the widow and her children through this unexpected ordeal. This act of solidarity aims to honor the memory of a father who, according to his sisters-in-law, lived solely for the well-being of his wife and children.
