On Tuesday night into Wednesday, at around 2:30 a.m., Rachid left his home in Libercourt to report for work at the Delanchy transport company in Liévin. Less than a kilometer after setting off, his car was hit head-on by an Audi A3 carrying four teenagers and traveling at high speed. The tragedy also claimed the lives of two passengers in the other vehicle, aged 15 and 16, while the 15-year-old driver and the front-seat passenger remain in critical condition.
