US-Led Defense Summit on Ukraine Aid Draws Global Participation, Including Morocco

Morocco participated on Tuesday in a defense summit organized by the United States at the Ramstein air base in Germany, to discuss international aid for the defense of Ukraine.
This military meeting entitled "Ukraine Defense Consultative Group" brought together NATO countries and 14 non-member countries, including Morocco, reports the specialized site Breaking Defense, specifying that the objective is to "put pressure on how allies and partners can come together to best support Ukraine’s continued defense against Russia."
Four African countries took part in this meeting: Morocco and Tunisia, Kenya and Liberia, as well as three Middle Eastern countries: Israel, Qatar and Jordan. Along with the other participants, they, among other things, examined presentations on Russia’s changing tactics and strategy and on Ukraine’s military needs, the same source points out.
During a press briefing last Friday, a Pentagon press secretary stated: "Now, some of the invited countries and some of the countries that will go are, in fact, NATO allies, but they are doing so unilaterally and sovereignly, and not within the framework of the alliance."
He added: "The United States was interested in hearing what other allies and partners are doing with regard to their national defense industrial bases and how they can assist in the defense of Ukraine."
