Labour Party Gains in Westminster as Three British-Moroccan Candidates Win Local Elections

Iman Less, Aicha Less and Hamza Taouzzale, British and all of Moroccan origin, won the local elections on Friday in London, in the municipality of Westminster.
Members of the Labour Party, the new elected officials were rewarded for their many years of activism, allowing their political party to win 31 seats in Westminster, 12 more than in the 2018 elections.
Originally from Larache, Aicha Less had already won a seat in 2016. Hamza Taouzzale is a holder of a Master’s degree from King’s College London. On the other hand, it is a first for Iman Less, a young holder of a master’s degree in economics and political science.
For Souad Talsi, member of the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad (CCME), the election of three British Moroccans in Westminster "reminds us of the need to empower and encourage politically active people to make a place for themselves within the political parties of the United Kingdom."
And to add that "the future of our young generation in the United Kingdom is promising. We are here to help them and ensure the preservation of the interest of Morocco and Moroccans."
