Kuwaiti Suspect in Child Rape Case Flees Morocco After Controversial Release

The case of the Kuwaiti pedophile, who fled Morocco the day after his conditional release by the justice system, continues to spark controversy.
For the Moroccan Association for Human Rights, which has joined the case as a civil party, the provisional release had been granted to the Kuwaiti national on the basis of the written guarantees produced by the Kuwaiti embassy in Morocco, a bail of 300,000 dirhams, and the discharge signed by the civil party, represented by the victim’s family.
To this effect, an amicable settlement would have been found between the family of the 14-year-old victim of rape and the 24-year-old Kuwaiti aggressor. According to the Akhbarona website, the latter paid the sum of 500,000 dirhams.
Despite the ban on leaving the national territory, ordered by the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Marrakech on January 29, the hearing of February 11 was postponed to March 17 next, due to the non-appearance of the accused, who took advantage of the provisional release to escape justice and flee Morocco.
Reacting to the latest developments in this case, the AMDH called for recourse to international legal mechanisms to defend the supreme interests of the victim and force the Kuwaiti citizen to answer for his crimes before the Moroccan justice system.
