Kuwaiti Pedophile Trial Delayed for 11th Time as Suspect Remains Fugitive in Morocco

The trial of the Kuwaiti national accused of pedophilia has been postponed again by the Court of Appeal of Marrakech. This is the 11th postponement since the accused fled the kingdom before the start of the legal proceedings initiated by the victim.
This new postponement is explained by the absence of the 24-year-old defendant at the court. He had taken advantage of a provisional release to leave the kingdom. The defendant was arrested in December 2019 for having assaulted, raped and filmed a 14-year-old minor girl at his place of residence.
This scandal had aroused the anger of several human rights defense associations, including "Don’t touch my child!", the Moroccan Democratic Human Rights Instance (IDMDH), as well as the Moroccan Association for Human Rights (AMDH).
They had joined the civil party and had demanded that the Kuwaiti embassy, which had provided guarantees for the accused to benefit from provisional release, be responsible for presenting him before the court.
