Kuwait Strips Citizenship from 357 People in Mass Nationality Crackdown

The Kuwaiti authorities have just ordered the withdrawal of nationality from 357 people, including Moroccans.
The four decrees ordering the withdrawal of Kuwaiti nationality from the 357 people, including Moroccans, were published on Sunday in the Official Gazette. In addition, the Kuwaiti Council of Ministers has taken a decision to withdraw the nationality from six other people, as well as from all their relatives who had obtained it by affiliation.
These decisions follow a series of others that had been taken more than a year ago, relating to the withdrawal and deprivation of nationality from thousands of people, for reasons not revealed by the Kuwaiti authorities. Kuwaiti law authorizes the withdrawal of nationality in cases related to the public interest, fraud or allegiance to a foreign state.
