Kuwait MPs Urge End to Investments in Morocco and Egypt, Citing Concerns

Kuwaiti MPs demand that the government no longer invest in Arab countries like Morocco and Egypt. They call for directing investments inward.
"All investments in Egypt and Arab countries have failed. This has not borne fruit," says MP Bader Al-Humaidi in a statement quoted by ’Économiste maghrébin’. To support his words, he reports the words of a Moroccan official. "According to what a responsible employee told me, the Moroccan authorities prevent the withdrawal of any amount, whether capital or profits."
The elected official demands that Kuwait’s investments be directed inward. "Our investments are supposed to be inside Kuwait. By developing islands, ports, building factories, and moving towards the construction of alternative energies, but also towards the development of projects for young people, infrastructure, electricity and roads. As well as job creation, housing care and assistance to needy citizens," he addressed Finance Minister Abdul Wahab Al-Rasheed.
"The people refuse to inject more public funds into Egypt. [...] Diplomatic courtesy is not at the expense of the national economy," MP Osama Al-Shaheen also said.
