King Mohammed VI’s Return Sparks Major Moroccan Government Shakeup Amid Corruption Probe

A major reshuffle awaits the Moroccan government as soon as King Mohammed VI returns from his stay in Gabon. More than a political earthquake, it is a real clean-up operation in the face of numerous cases of corruption and embezzlement of public funds.
According to the Bilwadeh website, the Sovereign’s return will coincide with major political changes at the government and public institutions level. A clean-up campaign will affect officials at all levels involved in embezzlement cases.
The site specifies that a list, prepared in advance, based on audit reports, included the names of senior officials, ministers, former government officials, as well as parliamentarians, suspected of embezzlement and misappropriation of public funds.
Referring to the progress made by the country at the economic level, King Mohammed VI had called on the Head of Government, during the Throne speech, to propose qualified profiles capable of accompanying the new political orientations of the Kingdom.
