King Mohammed VI Removes Police from Royal Residences, Replaces with Military

On Sunday evening, elements of the National Police and the Royal Gendarmerie were removed by King Mohammed VI from guarding the royal residences and palaces.
According to the daily Assabah, the units that were replaced by members of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) were taken to military garrisons, pending the decision of their respective directorates.
The order to remove the agents, addressed by King Mohammed VI to the high command of the Royal Gendarmerie and the Directorate of Palace Security, created a climate of confusion among the guard in question as well as among the top army officials, who spent a sleepless night in the organization and deployment of troops.
A conflict between the elements of the Royal Gendarmerie and those of the National Police on their respective responsibilities would likely be the source of the royal anger. The Sovereign would have ordered to replace them with elements of the FAR.
The daily adds that the agents in question will certainly be subject to administrative sanctions from the High Command of the Royal Gendarmerie and the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), not to mention that an investigation is underway to determine the responsibilities of each.
Similar outbursts against certain elements of the Royal Gendarmerie have occurred in the past, leading to disciplinary measures and administrative sanctions ranging from 1 to 3 months.
