King Mohammed VI Orders Demolition of Illegal Structures at Moroccan Resort

After numerous irregularities noted in the construction of the new seaside and tourist resort "Taghazout bay" during a visit, King Mohammed VI ordered the suspension of the construction site, the demolition of villas and part of the hotels. The sovereign then gave instructions for the reconstruction of several buildings.
Violations, encroachment of buildings on the public domain, especially the public road and green spaces, degradation of the only road serving and bordering this station... The irregularities noted in the construction are numerous and varied.
On Saturday, February 8, the king had visited the capital of Souss where he had visited the construction site. That day, the sovereign was visibly dissatisfied with the progress of the construction work on this 650-hectare station, one of the largest in North Africa, reports Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. A week later, the sovereign ordered the demolition of infrastructure that did not comply with the urban planning code and the initial plans of the project.
Three large hotels belonging to world-renowned chains, still under construction, and four villas located on a surface of 160 m2 each, were demolished after the evacuation of the site. Similarly, Mounia Boucetta, the legal representative of Madaef, a subsidiary of the CDG, was asked to demolish the four villas built on the public domain and two rooms in the south wing of the Hyatt Regency hotel, under construction, specifies the same source.
