King Mohammed VI chaired a Council of Ministers on Thursday devoted to the adoption of several draft legal texts and international agreements. During this session with the members of the government, the sovereign questioned the Minister of the Interior about the Tangier tragedy and gave his instructions to "avoid the recurrence of such painful incidents".
In response to the king’s request, Minister Abdelouafi Laftit presented a report on the facts and provided more details on the ongoing investigations to elucidate the circumstances of this tragedy.
At the end of the minister’s presentation, a preliminary vision was drawn up, continues the same press release from the Royal Cabinet. Concerned by this tragedy, the king "reiterated his instructions for the development of an action between the different sectors concerned and the rapid and serious implementation of this vision". The sovereign also called for "the taking of all necessary legal, regulatory and procedural measures throughout the national territory in order to avoid the recurrence of such painful incidents", adds the same document.
In addition to the Tangier tragedy, the king also invited the Minister of Agriculture, Aziz Akhannouch, to present to him "the agricultural situation, especially after the latest rainfall that our country has experienced".
