King Mohammed VI Condemns Easter Terror Attacks in Sri Lanka, Offers Condolences

A message of condolence and compassion was sent by King Mohammed VI to the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena, following the terrorist attacks the country has experienced and which targeted several churches and hotels.
The Sovereign "expresses having learned with deep emotion and deep consternation the news of the ignoble terrorist attacks that targeted on Sunday, Easter day, churches and hotels in certain regions of Sri Lanka, causing several innocent victims," reports the MAP.
"On this painful occasion, the Sovereign expresses to the President of Sri Lanka, and through him to all the bereaved families and the Sri Lankan people, His deep condolences and His compassion, imploring God to grant them patience and comfort and a speedy recovery to the wounded," it is further reported.
Mohammed VI also expresses to the Sri Lankan President the firm condemnation by the Kingdom of Morocco of this abject terrorist act, which is rejected by all religions and universal humanistic values, it is also noted.
On Sunday morning, at least 290 people were killed and several hundred wounded, dozens of them in critical condition, following several attacks that targeted hotels and churches as the faithful attended Easter Mass. These attacks have not yet been claimed.
